People in the #Myriant discord are complaining about the #torrents from #Minerva as they apparently sourced a bunch of files elsewhere and got bad dumps for that.

Now other people with the dataset of Myriant can't join as seeders for their torrents as they've to download a lot of data off of their only seeder node themselves first.

Looks like Minerva is not better than anyone else when it comes to checking the DATs (special kind of files containing basically hashes).

Oh they've even a #meme for this:

Oh but it is also kinda interesting that when I specifically asked about an example for such a "corrupted file" and a diff I didn't get any response at all.

So anyone know what all of this is about?

Esp. because some mentioned them injecting or modifying the files I'm now also kinda interested in this from a #infosec perspective...

#Myrient #Minerva

I'm still convinced that #Minerva is a #honeypot.

There appears to be something going on in the back as nobody is talking anything specific.

Someone from the Myrient project joining them just to then almost immediately drop back out again and not say why.

them asking for help and linking peoples contributions to their project to their discord accounts.

Them getting "banned" from fmhy without providing a reason.

Their files not being identical and having modifications they're trying to hide

Their discord forcing people that want to join to disclose which area of the world they're from. (In addition to them linking identities for people that contributed Myrient data using their vibecoded software).

Them banning everyone from their discord that is asking about these diffs in their files while they're trying to convince everyone that they've a 1:1 copy anyway.

There being 22k people in their discord but almost no activity in chats.
