@Iconfactory Just moved to the release version of 1.8, but the timeline doesn’t seem to sync across devices now, plus window position and size reset at each launch on macOS.
@simonharper Restart the Mac. Someone else said iCloud was stuck on Mac and a restart fixed. Let us know cc @bigzaphod
@Iconfactory @simonharper also reminder that iOS 26.4 has an iCloud bug making syncing way less responsive between devices. Seems to be resolved in 26.5 betas though.
@bigzaphod @Iconfactory @simonharper This. 26.5 can't get here soon enough.
@bigzaphod @Iconfactory @simonharper Fixed in 26.4.1! 🎉
@Sonofasailor @bigzaphod @Iconfactory So updated all to 26.4.1 inc macOS. None are syncing Tapestry now. Other apps seem to be OK though
@simonharper @Sonofasailor @Iconfactory don't know what to say to that - 26.4.1 fixed it for most people. Not that Tapestry 1.8 will not sync with older Tapestry, though. So that's a wrinkle in there too. It's also hard to rule out iCloud itself being flaky since that seems to happen.
@bigzaphod @Sonofasailor @Iconfactory Thanks Sean, I am confused too as it was working fine mostly with the betas of 1.8. All my Tapestries are now the release version. Is there anything I can reset in the apps to try and kick start it again?
@simonharper @bigzaphod @Sonofasailor easiest thing to try is to simply restart the devices.
@simonharper @Iconfactory @bigzaphod @Sonofasailor I’ve been having the same problem, just in bed on the iPad, I was at the top of my timeline on my iPhone but on my iPad it says I’m 67 behind.
iOS 26.4.1 on both devices and latest Testflight builds on both.
I’ve just restarted both devices and they now follow each other and sync 🤷‍♂️
@pauls @Iconfactory @bigzaphod @Sonofasailor So I have restarted iPhone and iPad, both now sync correctly. My Mac however is still reluctant to sync, remember window position and size. So 2 out of 3 are OK now. Any plist I can delete somewhere Sean?
@simonharper @Iconfactory there's no plist that affects syncing. I don't understand why it's not working for you. Glad rebooting iOS seemed to fix it. Odd that the same didn't fix the mac. The window position thing has been a persistent problem. You could try deleting ~Library/Containers/Tapestry which should nuke everything including the database and on relaunch. It'd be like setting up fresh so it should restore from iCloud. Any local settings would be lost, but that might be worth trying?
@bigzaphod @simonharper @Iconfactory this is been a on and off issue for me, though i cant seem to figure out the offending cause.. ie i can kill the app on my phone and restart it, then the other devices sync.. My suspicions are that it has to do with trying to pull the full bsky and masto feed, syncs okay but may have different posts on other devices.. interesting enough, the AVP seems to always be up to date, which leads me to think of a possible iCloud sync delay
@Darrinsden @simonharper @Iconfactory I have no insight into this, but I've long had a suspicion that they use different iCloud backends for each platform or something like that and internally there might be some kind of sync/reconciliation with the records happening which can sometimes cause delay or dropped change events. But I've never read or heard anything to confirm this. Just kind of a personal conspiracy theory.
@bigzaphod @Iconfactory Thanks Sean. I will try the nuke option now and let you know.
@bigzaphod @Iconfactory So tried that and moving the timeline (RSS feeds) back in time on the Mac, caused the iOS app to move too. Then moved the iOS feed back to the top, and the Mac app stays still. Now neither sync again… will keep an eye on it
