[P] I've been thinking aboit the Rowan Atkinson comment on humour, it still gets under my skin. "Every joke has a victim," Rowan says, "that's the definition of humour." Such spineless cowardice. It isn't because he's wrong per se, but because he leaves out the most important part. A brave comedian doesn't need to rely on the sociopathy room. The victim of humour can be one's own self, safely, without harm.

[P] This is why my favourite forms of humour are properly handled self-deprecation and slapstick. In such a case, one can be aware of one's limits and that of one's troupe. I'd think that as Mr. Bean, he'd realise that. Oh. He hates Mr. Bean? Of course he does. This is why I still love the Chuckle Brothers, everyone's in on the joke and no one's punching down like a bully. All of my adored comedians get it.

[P] It's fine if you slip up, too. Be open. Listen. Apologise, and mean it. We're all imperfect learning machines. But what Atkinson suggests is that comedy should be bullying, that we should all be cowards and just-world fallacy everything. Atkinson is an avowed supporter of the sociopathy room. I have comedians I like—ABK, the McElroys, and others. I value them for being brave enough to be responsible.

[P] Whereas I now look upon Atkinson as a craven coward, cowering in the corner, hoping he won't be bullied back for being a bully. And I'dbelieve what his ex-wife has said about him too, due to this. That his behavior has been unacceptable. It's the mindset of a bully, hoping everyone rolls over and accepts bullying. I don't like bullies—they're always inecure cowards at best. Bullying isn't comedy.
