I've been telling people Power Platform Dataflows is a dead feature for 3 years at least. The Power BI blog now confirms that any non-Fabric Dataflow is in Legacy mode.

The Gen2 Fabric Dataflow doesn't even support Dataverse as a target.🙄 Not that the Power Apps portal would surface the new version anyway. So, it's not officially "legacy" - just dead.

Meanwhile, there are 200+ comments on the Power BI Reddit from excited users who can't wait to migrate from Gen1 to Gen2 Dataflows:

I'm of course kidding. Not a single person there wants to get forced to more complex and much more expensive Fabric when PBI Gen1 Dataflows did the job for them perfectly fine.

Microsoft is making it clear how they couldn't care less about SMB needs when it comes to analytics and data. Not news - confirmation.

Here's a gift link to the newsletter issue I wrote some time ago about Microsoft's Fabric push and forgetting the recipe of what made Power BI successful in the first place:

A twist in the Fabric

The push for Microsoft Fabric with its enterprise data platform capabilities is leaving SMB audience of Power BI behind - as well as dreams of closer Power Apps integration.
