Pixel 6 with GrapheneOS.
I will need to replace it soon, as Pixel 6 is reaching the end of software updates for GrapheneOS, which is a shame (although understandable) as the phone works just fine.
I will replace it with another Pixel running GrapheneOS. Much as I love my various other Linux phones, they are not yet there for me for a work phone.
@justine for PostmarketOS its not very viable for daily driving right now. The Farphone 5 dies not have earpiece support, so calling does work but only with speakers and external audio like Bluetooth (from what I remember, I'm not sure about Bluetooth but I think it would work). And switching audio sources doesn't work during calls.
Android app support is also flakey. To be fair haven't tried it with a device with more ram and power like the Fairphone 5. Only tried with a pixel 3a. There is also work going on to port the proprietary Aliendalvik android app support to postmarketOS.
But anyway if you want a phone with better audio support and calling the Oneplus 6 / 6T are good. Thats the one that has most support now. But the Fairphone 5 has made a lot of progress so its not very unrealistic to think it will get more progress.
There is also security. For data harvesting you don't really have to worry much of course, it being Linux. But physical hardware attacks are more of a danger, like someone using SSH.
@justine I think we are brain siblings! I do this all the time, and seem to spend more time these days agonising over the right/best way to do things than actually doing anything productive!
Hope you manage to pick an option you are happy with.
All of your choises mentioned above are the RIGHT steps to opt-out from the data monsters!
Graphene is the best option, in 2027 Motorola will launch a new device compatible with GOS! Whilst you're stepping away by flashing GrapheneOS, you currently still need to buy a Google device, hence supporting satan!
If you like #IodeOS I want to recommend the SHIFTphone 8.1 designed by #novacustom I personally met the team at Fossdem and the device is really slick.
@justine
I'm running e/os on a Fairphone 6. It gives me Signal and banking apps via microg, but I'm waiting to see if Calyx comes back.
I liked their openness with their key management, and the tone of their comms.
