That is, if LLMs become good enough then surely we will look past the deception, violations, abuse, and extremist politics?

Many already use it. Perhaps less will when it becomes obvious that neither LLMs nor the corporate handlers and their coders have any interest in anyone’s wellbeing and flourishing? Hence the tech monopolies and antitrust doublespeak of Artificial Intelligence. The Artificial and Automated control of Information processing has only served the acceleration of inequality and injustice so a very few can profit from advanced weapons tech, surveillance, essential resources depletion and IP theft.
