#TelAviv, the largest city in #Israel, was founded as a suburb of #Jaffa on #ThisDayInHistory in 1909. It has some claim to being the first explicitly Jewish city & was meant to help newly arrived #Zionists avoid interacting with #Palestinians. In 1950 it absorbed Jaffa/#Yāfā.
