I understand where you come from. But...as a person from the so called Global South, ex-3rd world, our experience is that regardless of who is in charge, democrats or republicans, the internal concept of the US of what democracy is/was was never applicable for us. I can only hope whatever is left of your democracy survives and gets stronger to be really relevant to the rest of the world

Hi Marcia, I think that you mean the people of the 'Western Liberal Democracies' were privileged, and that is fair comment.

Commenting from Australia where we are witnessing the rise of inequality and oligarchs together with erosion of democratic institutions similar to the former US, the events there are distressing.

Ultimately, no one is coming to rescue us, we must individually take responsibility for fighting oppression.

@goss 'Western Liberal Democracies' or powers in general. You from Australia, I from Brazil have witnessed what our govts have done and still do re #IndigeniousPeoples for example...
I agree that we have to take personal responsibility but I think nobody alone can do much. I like a lot the concepts your compatriot (wrong adjective) Tyson Junkaporta brings from #AboriginalKnowledge regarding networking and telling right stories, very inspiring
