I sort of wrote this post backwards, starting with the review and painting and then wrote the introduction about why I'm still masking. So it sort of starts extremely angry and reads as though I'm progressively calming down through handicrafts as I go
@afewbugs well handicrafts calm me down, so that tracks.

@afewbugs That's really pretty!

I really like these: https://cambridgemask.com/

I've proved in tests I can bounce around and sing in them without ruining the seal to my face. Plus a while back they did a really fun, stupid Halloween pattern 🙂

Cambridge Mask Co

@afewbugs Thanks for a long but worthwhile read. I have just done the fortnightly shop where I was one of only two people masked. I will get odd looks from someone but I couldn’t care less.

Long Covid is debilitating.

I wear a standard FFP2 mask when shopping. A more comfortable, washable and reusable cloth mask keeps the hayfever away when I’m gardening.

My household has remained covid free and virtually free of the common cold for five years. Shielding is ongoing for us. #WearAMask

@[email protected] my Mum also wears a mask gardening and swears by it for hayfever. Doesn't really help me though, I get itchy eyes 😂

@afewbugs I still get itchy eyes but not as badly. I don’t win v hayfever unless overdosing on local honey counts, for medicinal purposes 😋. It hasn’t worked yet but I’ll keep trying it!

Masks work better than anything else I’ve tried.

@afewbugs
ooh i'll be very interested to know how you get on with it. we had looked at them, but the reports of people having to tip out the moisture put me off ...

also, what a lovely day!

@moonrabbit I'm sort of relieved I'm not the only one experiencing that honestly, I was starting to think I was freakishly sweaty or something. But the upsides definitely outweigh that one downside

@afewbugs
ah so it does happen then? and no, definitely not just you!! it's a thing, apparently. that sadly i don't think i could cope with, bah.

are you finding the mask comfy overall though?

@moonrabbit unfortunately yes. This is it after a half hour train journey. Other than that though it's working brilliantly and is much more comfortable than anything else I've tried

@afewbugs
goodness yes, right. yikes. i've read thing about people literally having to tip them out, so that's in line with those experiences, i think.

it does look like it would be significantly more comfortable than a 3M aura, but i just don't think i could handle the wet.

how is it in terms of headache from the strap?

@moonrabbit absolutely brilliant, most comfortable strap design I've ever tried

@afewbugs
sigh.
if they weren't so expensive, i might try, but. sigh.

i suppose poking holes in it for the condensation to evaporate would defeat the purpose somewhat ...

@afewbugs It's not sweat, it's just water vapor from our breath! @moonrabbit
@bright_helpings @moonrabbit I'm not sure if that's more or less icky 😂 Still definitely worth it from my perspective though
