This is great work, as ever, from @LizCarolan: "Who is funding the fuel protest's online campaign?"

Who is funding the fuel protest's online campaign?

Political mobilisation does not scale "spontaneously", and, once that fire is lit, there is no controlling what it burns.

The Briefing

Shout-out to everyone who's been pearl-clutching about these supposed "workers," when they are, in fact, self-serving, self-entitled, business-owning capitalists looking for a bail-out from public monies.

So, the "breakthrough" of a meeting tomorrow at 2:30pm between fuel protestors and government means blockades being lifted within an hour, yes? Yes? #FuelProtests #RTÉPT #MastoDaoine

Seems like a few HGVs are leaving Dublin city centre via Dublin 7, judging by the sounds of them blasting the neighbourhood out of it at almost 11pm. I'm sure everyone's delighted with that, especially with young kids.

In what will be a surprise to nobody, the answer to the quoted post is No.

Adverse public health impacts of the #FuelProtests continues: "The public in Ireland have been urged to only buy the fuel they need to ease supply issues" to ensure emergency response vehicles have access to fuel, following a meeting of the National Emergency Co-ordination Group (NECG).

Fuel protests LIVE as public urged to only buy fuel they need

O'Connell Bridge remains closed today, with the familiar sight of tractors, trucks, and buses still lining both sides of the city's main thoroughfare

@clickhere @LizCarolan The fash are involved for sure. Tommy-Stephen-Robinson-Yaxley-Lennon is promoting it on his social media.

@HarriettMB

Yeah, she mentions that in her piece. ("@LizCarolan: she's on Meta and Twtr so you don't have to.")

It's always great to have some English nationalist petit-fash tansplain our country to us. I look forward to the NI Loyalists chiming in (looking at you, Coolock), esp the ones with the worst criminal records imaginable.

Good times.

@clickhere Thanks Joan!
@Doomstrike @LizCarolan Yeah, the tow truck connection is in Liz's article.
@clickhere @LizCarolan
Yes I read the article, though the link to that business was a little tenous, naturally, as I would assume that someone using that web address to pay for an ad is not proof the owner is the applicant. I just think the owner of the business, and website, seeing themselves as a "spokesperson" on this protest, more likely links it directly, for me at least.
@Doomstrike @clickhere The Journal did a great in depth piece here; I try not to get into personalities too much for 2 reasons; I prefer to look at systems and bigger patterns (that is how my brain works); and (importantly}, this is not a funded project and I do not have money for lawyers
'Another few days will have things crippled': Inside the protest WhatsApp groups

The protests are being organised online by people within the sector after a major public meeting took place last month.

@clickhere @LizCarolan I'd venture to say that anyone who doesn't include social media mobilization on this one has entirely missed the story
