Looking for explanations…This is my second self portrait pencil sketch, which I whipped up over the course of about 4.5 hours.
I’m doing more sketches than painting atm, because I’m also working from home a few hours each day for a few weeks, & painting takes more time.
Jude🇵🇸For me, yes. So many alterations & corrections. A very slight adjustment to an angle, proportion etc can make so much difference to the expression, the harshness, softness etc.
I can see why people practise by drawing/painting themself. You’d lose a lot less friends… 😂

I looked like a thug in my first sketch! I did the second from a photo, using a grid, & it took hours. Proportions & angles are crucial. So many erasures & adjustments…
