Ok y'all...weirdness ahead.

Thinkers for as long as we have thunk, have considered that we live in a dream state. Plato, Zhuangzi, Descartes had their caves and butterflies and demons, but philosopher Nick Bostrom updated it to the computer age, suggesting that *waves hands around* all of this is computer simulation.

Here's where I leave the known, and don my tinfoil propeller beanie.

You know how LLM companies have devoured all the available ram and compute power they can lay their hands on, right? And they're sucking power down like midsized cities for each data center.

And the timeline started getting weirder and weirder the more data centers that went online.

Y'all, I posit that LLM is destroying the universe. It's using all the compute and power that should be fueling the normal functions of the simulation.

I'm just sayin, what if we turned them all off for a few months, just to see if normal happened?

@MissConstrue must also turn off the people deploying them. They're captured by their own genre that has detached from reality as they lack any friction or humanity that would prevent catastrophic failures such as what we find ourselves in.
@Netraven Na, we just round em up and put them all on Ellison’s island for a bit. They’ll be fine.
@MissConstrue I think the universe is too big to be worried about what a few primates do in their tiny rock to be worried about it
@MissConstrue if you haven’t read the book exodelic you might find it interesting (disclaimers: I’m friends with the author so my recommendation is not unbiased. And also CW it has some weird unnecessary sexual abuse against the (male) protagonist bits in it)
@MissConstrue The Catch-22 is that it's a great idea, but just now? I fear 'Normal People' are so thoroughly addicted that it'd result in 'World War Z' looking like a Care Bears picnic!!😱 😱 😱
@sjcooke66 Perhaps, but without chatgpt to guide them, they should be easy to pacify with some old episodes of Blues Clues for some and old episodes of William F Buckley for others, and they’ll be fine.
@MissConstrue It’s absolutely worth a try!
