I've talked before about desexualizing the miniskirt uniform in Star Trek.

Strange New Worlds is starting this with opaque tights and flat boots. Starfleet Academy is helping by quietly having a masculine (male, deep-voiced, honourable Klingon) character quietly wear a miniskirt sometimes.

I've theorized that they need to have the character of James T. Kirk quietly wear a miniskirt uniform one day, which they still have room to do.

But the sheer tights and heels problem remains:

The female characters in TOS wear miniskirt uniforms with sheer tights and heeled boots, which are far sexier (and more sexualized) than the opaque tights and flat boots we see in 21st-century serieses.

Possible solution: towards the end of SNW, have a passing mention of sheer tights and/or heeled boots as an emerging trend among Kids Today.

Perhaps the older characters are rolling their eyes at it, maybe Uhura says "I kind of like it", then they continue with the plot.

Maybe it's shown onscreen as something being worn by Academy cadets or perhaps even teenagers, with one or more of them being male.

Since SNW is a few years before TOS, that positions the sexy miniskirt uniform as a brief, fleeting trend that might look funny in the future (like how a bunch of people were wearing skinny jeans for a few years recently), not as Official Gender Roles in the Alleged Utopia.
