Fighting for DemocracyAs a staunch defender of social media, I do still have to concede this one.
In terms of society grappling with ideas and events, I think it's very good to have that kind of immediate access (and the ability to argue about it). I think it makes us smarter. And I think it helps puncture the idea that there's some secret, shrewd, responsible guy behind the erratic behavior.
Unfortunately, I don't think it makes us happier.
Whoever figures out a media structure that threads that needle will be a hero remembered through the ages.

@carnage4life yeah but some of us know what he's doing bc we're dumb enough to keep picking up our smartphones. other ppl know what he's doing bc bombs are falling on them.
