Something a little exotic sounding & looking today, quickly photographed in the garden before I had to go out.

It's a Ligurian leafhopper (Eupteryx decemnotata).

Though originally from the Mediterranean, as the name suggests, it has become widespread in Europe & the UK in the past few decades, likely due to transport of catnip plants.

Yup 🙀

This species is apparently fairly often confused for the more common (at least when you go further north) E. melissae, the banded sage leafhopper.

But while this one is clearly on sage, I'm pretty sure that the markings on the wing casings identify it as E. decemnotata.

Oh, & in German, it's the Ligurische Blattzikade.
