Good morning and a very happy Thatcher Day to you all! It's been 13 years today and she's still dead. 🎉

I often wonder who's been worse for the UK overall, Thatcher or the parade of self serving kleptocrats of more recent years. Farage and Johnson caused untold damage between them, and Farage may yet cause much more, but, honestly, they're just natural byproducts of Thatcher's project. She was the root cause, and all these sneering clowns who followed her are just minor characters in her play. She may be dead but the wounds she left us still bleed.

Let's make today the day when we grab a stake and check on her grave, just to be sure.

@bodil So much bad shit really started with Reagan and Thatcher...
@ainmosni All the bad shit, really.
@bodil Well, much of it was scattered around before, they packaged it all up, made it more effective, and modernised it.
@bodil Oh they did manage to have genocide, Jim Crow and nuking the shit out of places all without Reagan. To name just a few, in case anyone was wondering whether the Other Capitalist Party was better. #notallshit
@ainmosni
@viraptor @ainmosni @bodil Nope, start with #Goldwater, the one who wanted to succeed #Eisenhower who was the last decent Republican 🇺🇸 president. And continue with #Nixon.
@viraptor @bodil
Whenever I think of Reagan, I remember John Oliver summing it up beautifully: https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxphJ17dyfKv9Ny7iJSA1JHXOmlOUtikfP?si=QFulY71ejDnYwd2E

Oh goodness gracious no. They don’t start much at all. The US was destined to get to its neoliberal nirvana.

@BenHM3 @bodil I don't disagree with that, actually, but bad shit got streamlined, modernised, and better sold with those two. Granted, it most likely would have happened without them, but maybe a bit later.
