Currently working on the Revell 1:32 "Aces High" Iron Maiden Spitfire kit. Which I'm hoping is not their usual 1:32 Spitfire MkII with the Eddie figurines thrown in (which is likely, because they're on their own sprue, in their own cellophane packet, cast in a different coloured plastic).

The kit (especially the interior) is horrifically inaccurate from any Mk that I can find reference photos for online. 😬

Always feels like a frustrating step, priming the plastic from one shade of grey to a very slightly different shade of grey (when it goes on wet, it's literally almost _indistinguishable_, i have to go by the "wetness" look to see where I've done - the darker shade only appears once it's dry); and yet it's a pivotal step.

I've tried skipping it before, and while you _can_ if you're using enamels, if you're using acrylics, it just doesn't work.

In things that only I will ever notice or care about, I have followed the #Revell painting guide (bottom). But it "felt wrong" as I was doing it... to the point I checked 3 different times to make sure I'd not confused the two colours.

Only after completing it did I pull up the #Airfix painting guide.

Can you spot the discrepancy?

Panel liner applied to the underside of one wing. I'm liking the way it is looking for once. Subtle enough it's not obvious, strong enough that it's obviously different to the unlined side.

@crafty Well that's backwards!

@ErrolNZ right??

I'm fairly sure the Airfix one is correct and matches the RAF pattern, so I'm not sure what Revell is playing at...

@crafty Well MOTAT reversed the colors on their Hudson. Fixed before it went on formal display.
@ErrolNZ we've all done it _at least_ once 🤣
