"Texas’ newest city is looking to massively expand its footprint less than a year after residents voted it into existence.
"The city of Starbase — home of Elon Musk’s South Texas-based #SpaceX launch site and just a stone’s throw from the beloved #BocaChica Beach — is seeking to expand its territorial boundaries by thousands of acres. That includes hundreds of acres of protected #wildlands currently owned and managed by either the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department or the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
"Starbase could begin the process to annex 7,133 acres of land that is both publicly and privately owned as soon as this week. On Wednesday, February 18, the Starbase City Commission is set to consider the matter as part of its regular monthly meeting. The 7,100-acre annexation proposal is one of just several items city leaders will deliberate Wednesday; however, the annexation discussion will occur behind closed doors as part of the meeting’s executive session."
