I was really hoping to go through life without needing to know what the plural of "apocalypse" is.

@evacide

By definition, the first should preclude the need for a plural, shouldn't it?

We are now just seeing all the domianes that go into one. KNowledge is becoming a horrid wisdom.

@infoseclogger @evacide concurrency and parallelism
@evacide I was not prepared for Buffy quotes to become reality.
@evacide Technically there's only supposed to be one, so..
@mike @evacide But there can be multiple competing for privilege of becoming the one…
@WPalant @evacide In that case I vote for apocalie

@mike Then I suggest that you don’t look it up on Wiktionary. Their vote is boring.

@evacide

@mike @evacide *technically* it's a literary genre, and the Bible contains more than one.
@mike @evacide basicallynthere have been several.
@evacide Apocellipsis?

@g My guess would've been apocolii (like cactii).

Edit: typo

@me @g apocalopedes

It's at least fun to say.

@evacide

"Polycrisis rollarcoaster" might be friendlier?

@evacide

Catastrafuck?

Polycrisis?

Asking for a friend.

@pseudonym
“Catastrafuck” 😂🏆

@evacide

@pseudonym well played!

@evacide perhaps a concerted effort here could get #Catastrafuck voted as the Merriam-Webster word of the year for 2026. Certainly been plenty of context for it's frequent usage so far, and looking to continue...

@evacide apocalypse_v3_final_final_1

@evacide

is it really an apocalypse if it doesn't end everything?

@maya_b @evacide “There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”

Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

@evacide it's somepocalypse, isn't it?
@evacide isnt it that one mel gibson movie set somewhere in south america
@evacide Thanks for the Buffy reference.

@evacide

APOCALYPSIS

@hnapel I think what we are experiencing is more of an apocellipsis, where the world is ending but it's also never quite gets there.

@evacide @hnapel

Let's have the revelation(s).

That's what apocalypsis, or openbaring, is: revelation. Hence the name of that last book of the bible.
I can think of a few revelations to root for.

@evacide it's just another market manipulation.

@evacide

Apolyclypse ?

I don't know if the inventor of the word considered that there could be several going on simultaneously.

@evacide

The course of humanity and civilization does not continually rise upward, it has peaks and valleys. Yes we have rises and falls, and we happen to be at a crossroads due to improper choices made the American people.

This is the end, but not of US or the world, this one single moment marks the end of the Republican Party. They have the power to step in and rein in control from Trump and they are choosing not to.
This one inaction will forever mark and stain their party. The will be history books how their unhinged political poster child and world leader went unchecked and instead of restraining their monster, some sided with his lunacy while the rest buried their head and remained silence.

This is the beginning of the end of the Republican Party.

#maga #Republican #trump

@evacide is it "conservatives" ?
@evacide Oh that's easy. Apocalypses. From Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
@evacide throwing my vote towards apocalypso as the plural
@evacide Because you can't have just one?
@WorkWithKirk @evacide once you “poc you just can’t stop.
@evacide
Wife favors apocalypti but I prefer apocalots
@evacide I always appreciated Morin's "polycrisis".

@evacide

Apocalypses would be more straightforward.

Apocalyptica sounds more fun.

@evacide Perhaps we are all experiencing a discombobulation of apocalypses?
@evacide Good Buffy reference. That was always one of my favorite lines.
@evacide apocalypses
@evacide but, really, call it the Jackpot.
@evacide According to Gibson's "The Peripheral", that would be a Jackpot.
@evacide @aspeed “omnishambles” is a nice word that sort of covers these not nice for lots of reasons situation
@evacide I actually actually checked my "distance to major Marine base, vs kill radius of an ICBM.". I think I am safe.

@evacide

If it works kind of like “cyclops”, then:

“apocalypese” (a-pocka-lipp-eez)
