"[Aaron] Rupar works from his spare room in his Minneapolis house. His job is to watch President Trump. All day, every day. ...

He sees it as his duty to keep the world informed of almost everything Trump and members of his administration say and do."

The man who watches Trump all day, every day

Aaron Rupar spends up to 80 hours a week following the US president, from meandering speeches to impromptu press conferences. He says it’s ‘pretty bleak’

The Times

"He clips videos of Trump’s noteworthy remarks and shares them instantly on social media, monitoring 12 different TV channels simultaneously. His clips bounce back and forth across the internet."

@wdlindsy A man sitting in his spare room acting as a full-time filter of one politician isn’t ‘keeping the world informed’—he’s shaping a narrative. When coverage becomes constant surveillance of one figure, it stops being about informing and starts being about influence. Real journalism should bring balance, not obsession.
@wdlindsy
That is what I would call psychological torture.
@wdlindsy I have followed Aaron Rupar for years on social media, first on Twitter, then on Bluesky. I don't think he is active on Mastodon. There an account with his name and likeness, but it's old and may be fake.
I can only imagine what it's like to report on trump as closely as Aaron does, 24/7. He is an unsung hero.
@Barbramon1 I agree — very much an unsung hero.

@wdlindsy It's worth a bluesky account just to follow https://bsky.app/profile/atrupar.com

And I'll add https://bsky.app/profile/aaronparnas.bsky.social as another important reporter to follow.

Bluesky Social
@lisafw Thank you. Is it possible to follow his account there without opening a BlueSky account? I can barely keep up with what I'm doing on this site, and all that I'm reading elsewhere, and am hesitant to open yet another account.

@wdlindsy I totally understand. I am a bit overwhelmed with just bluesky & mastodon.

Doing quick search on the googles, here's what I found:

Yes, you can follow Bluesky accounts from Mastodon using a bridging service called Bridgy Fed. By following the specialized bot @bsky.brid.gy on Mastodon, you can interact with Bluesky users.

There are more details for making this happen, but it looks like it is possible, which is very cool. Hope it works for you!

@lisafw @bsky.brid.gy Thank you so much — will check that avenue out.
