"#NoKing", anti-monarchist in context likely = no Shah.

@b9AcE i was just thinking about this,

it's actually kinda scary that the internet has been out there for so long that for most of us, there really isn't a good way to know what that sign means, because all the opinions other than the state have been cut off from the world

@estelle The only videos I see from inside Iran latest weeks are videos of bombings and aftermaths of bombings.
Sources who usually told about protests, strikes, etc have not mentioned any new protests that I can recall since https://todon.eu/@b9AcE/116137540011530242 then, when the third wave of major protests ended counting from including the ones sparked by the murder of Jîna Amini, out of which all three have been very overwhelmingly, or seemingly exclusively, explicitly both anti-theocracy and anti-monarchy.
It seems unlikely to me that the wannabe-Shah calling for the people to be bombed will have made anti-monarchists become pro-monarchists.
But I don't know, of course.
Buuut... it aligns with this https://todon.eu/@b9AcE/116249875808190714 from March.

I have not seen even a single report of any university protest under the Iran-theocracy today, and by the pattern of the preceding wave of huge university protests those should already have occurred and ended for the day by now. I could speculate on why and what comes next, but with the regime flailing so wildly against the people, speculation seems pointless waste of effort with an actually entirely unpredictable foundation, sooo... let's not.

@b9AcE yeah, i was aware of the protests that trump used as an excuse but i lost track at some point and now i see the anti-regime sentiment hadn't died even after a month of bombardment

yeah, maybe they really do mean *no* kings, then

@b9AcE i see, thank you for the impromptu summary
@estelle Of course. Looking forward to having better news, inevitably. ;-)
