#AskFedi With Skype gone, what's the "easy" way to make #VoIP to PSTN (international) calls these days? Something I can give to non technical people, plus I don't particularly feel like having to care about fucking SIP servers.
@voltagex Probably a dialer using the Twilio demo code?

@voltagex The most obvious answer is using your mobile, where international calls come bundled into many plans.

I’ve a SIP number in the UK and one in the US; and just program a hardware phone with them, but this is very much not a non-techie solution.

With Microsoft discontinuing Skype, what's the best way to make cheap calls to overseas numbers now? We compared the alternatives.

@james yeah, it looks like Boost has a reasonable amount of international calls for "free".

It's interesting to me how quickly VoIP as a concept kinda died out (for non-business use) in Australia

@voltagex I get an hour a month with my Vodafone contract. I don't think I use it all...

@voltagex Have you investigated MagicApp? I use it to call US phone numbers, but it looks like calls between people that are both on the app are included in all plans:

@voltagex It's easy to use an Amazon Echo Show, if you happen to have one. I make free calls with it, but I am in the UK. I think there is a restriction on the number of contacts you can make free calls to, but if you are prepared to speak or type the number....

Also I use Voipfone.co.uk which has its own app called Softphone.
