@mirabilos all of this is a misrepresentation of what scott was "trying" to talk about in that thread regendans linked you

@mirabilos mission accomplished 🫡
I hope the team learns that they need people with actual social education to do these kind of things
@mirabilos uh ohh
bad news for you then - he's currently "Product Strategy Advisor to Mastodon Core team"
I feel he means well but is entirely unsuited to tackle this problem, likely just due to his career path/position of privilege
@HollieK72 indeed
and it's supposed to become a blog post - wonder if that will go any better
@medusaskirt As in a journalist who was disappointed in Mastodon's engagement with his pro-genAI fluff.
Like it's our duty to make him feel appreciated, even though he didn't bother to read the room at all.
One of the head honchos of Mastodon was pearl-clutching over how this makes us an echo chamber, and that we should be more inclusive of genAI fan communities. For... reasons 🤷
@mcc I block any pro AI people I come across on here.
If you debate the idiots, they drag you down to their level and then they have home team advantage.
@pomegranate_stew @mcc Yep.
A few months ago on here I posted about throwing blocks around and I had someone call me out and say how rude and ignorant it was and how...
And that was as far as I got before I blocked them.
I hope they were a fan of irony.😁
@anne_twain You are restricting their "someone else's" speech.
It's not my best work, I know.
@mcc
Why do people shouting "but freedom!" never understand that this is reciprocal?
They are free to say what they want - and we are free to listen or not.
They are free to post as much AI-slop as they want to - and we are free to not follow.
And if nobody's interested in their AI-slop it's their problem not ours.
Shouldn't be too hard to understand.
But I guess as them being used to being the biggest bully on the playground they are not used to the experience of being not wanted.
🤷🏻♀️

It is our problem, a big one. One human setting up the #siliconiac agent is wreaking havoc to the servers, to the users, to the environment, and this way to every user of the Fediverse whether they follow, not follow, mute or block. The troll user can spit some hate here and there, some 20 posts per hour. Single siliconiac agent can do hundreds per minute on many servers, it will follow you to get fatter on your posts to mimic you later, then it eventually will get some followers that are less aware of the evils lurking.
> Them being used to being the biggest bully
They are. For your as a taxpayer money, for the polluted air you will breathe, for the arid desert made where their silicon bodies now hum.
#noai #poisonai
@mcc It's the type of person who yells "You just can't handle disagreement!" at people who are specifically in the middle of disagreeing with them.
Even though that makes no sense, they hope (and are, sadly, often correct, although less so on Mastodon) that by doing this, they can reframe the discourse to make them look 'reasonable' and their opponents look unreasonable, and in that way they can manipulate and dominate the conversation.
@mcc I met a Trump guy who started yelling "Free Speech! Free Speech! Where's my right to Free Speech! I got a right to Free Speech!" as I threw him out of my office for yelling. I said "Go yell at the mail box on the sidewalk. There's no Constitutional right to make me listen. Go Free Speech outside. Nobody cares."
It would have so much easier to block him.
@mcc why should I go out of my way to make AI users feel included? Cant’t they generate their own audience and talk to that? :^)
Mass blocking robots and their nannies is a victimless crime as far as I’m concerned
