I'm minding my business putting away groceries and other items that just arrived at my house. These included some of the new #Tide Evo laundry detergent products. So as is often my custom with new items I scan it with #SeeingAI and other assorted apps and it's reading me what it can find on the packaging. And I think to myself, did I just hear it say #NaviLens? No I couldn't have. But wait, yes, yes, I surely did because #VDScan just said it too. So I fire up the #NaviLens app for the very first time, and sure enough it spots the symbol on the packaging and suddenly it's telling me about the product, describing the tactile symbols on the outer packaging, telling me what they mean, telling me how I can call through #BeMyEyes during certain hours to get assistance, giving me product usage instructions and telling me how I can open the package and also telling me how I can visit the website or affording me the opportunity to locate the package using sound to tell me when I was close to it. That was pretty neat. I feel a bit behind the times as I must confess sheepishly to never having interacted with #NaviLens before this very day. I'll now have to investigate what other products bear their symbols. #Accessibility #Blind
@robini71 This is one app I don't have installed but perhaps I should rectify this.
@FreakyFwoof Couldn't hurt it's free and one never knows what neat product info it might yield. Like I said I'm definitely behind the times on this one but I can say it was installed I just hadn't had occasion to have used it until today. Always something new to try that's for sure. If it yields you any neat product identifications do share so we can all learn together friend.
@FreakyFwoof I'm still so taken with the fact that Procter and Gamble not only put raised tactile symbols on the packaging but also printed information about NaviLens right there too. #Accessibility
@robini71 Hi there! Is the tide Evo laundry sheets or pods? Just curious let me know what you think.
@baxaphobia They are neither they are tiles composed of layers of woven fibers of detergent. Their appearance has been likened to that of strands of cotton candy woven together into a solid tile. Not sure either the original scent or the spring blast scent will remain with me. I should probably have gotten the free and gentle. I do so lament that so many scents are so loud these days. But don't go by me I'm saying the same of P&G's Secret Shower Fresh Antiperspirant also. So perhaps it's me. I feel like a citizen without an aromatic country. But the product packaging and form factor is neat for the Tide but some also say its pricing isn't a good value for those who do lots of laundry as pods and liquids and powders are still cheaper. More than you wanted to know probably, sorry.
@robini71 No, that’s a great description! Sounds kind of weird. I usually use the Armen hammer clean scent laundry sheets. I really like those. The sent to me is not really overwhelming. I do not like pods at all. I find that there’s residue on my clothes. It doesn’t seem to rinse well and sometimes you find some sticky junk. Yuck. So gave up using those a long time ago.
@baxaphobia I find pods only work by me in warm or hot water never in cold and so help me and this is gonna sound totally gross but I once had a pod not melt entirely and thus not rinse and I didn't realize it. I put a garment it was on in the dryer unknowingly and it literally fused the folded thing together. I had to sacrifice it to the trash. I forget whose sheets I got maybe True Earth? Something that sounded earth friendly but wasn't friendly to one's nasal passages. I'll have to check out the Arm & Hammer Sheets. Do you use them in warm, hot or cold? And how do you differ using them in small vs. large loads?
@robini71 I used them in cold and they dissolve. And also they’re perforated so if you’re doing a small load, you can tear the sheet in half and use that instead of the whole sheet I find them great I think you might be able to get them and unscented as well. But I use the clean scent and it’s not too bad. But I’m not super sensitive to scent.
@baxaphobia I didn't used to be either I promise you. This is a recent trend and I'm none too pleased about it I assure you. In fact it, breaks, what's, left, of, my, heart. 😢😢
@robini71 Oh sad! Lovely sense make me happy. I know we’ve discussed perfume before I haven’t tried anything new lately. I went back to my old favorite, which is karma by lush.
@baxaphobia Oh yes scents in anything that we can enjoy are truly a gift.
@baxaphobia I'll have to check these things out. #Amazon here I come.
@baxaphobia @robini71 You know I’m starting to find that as well, so I think that I will switch to Scheetz when we run out of these Pods.
@technocounselor @baxaphobia @robini71 I haven’t found that but I can see how it might happen: finding residue on your clothes with pods. I’ve noticed the washer is gookie for lack of a better description. I think I’ll purchase some washing machine cleaner and switch to the sheets when the pods here run out. I’ve been using gross community laundry machines for so long I’d not paid attention to the residue. But now that I’ve got my own machines it’s worth paying attention to. Now to search out who has good prices for the sheets.
@amy0223 @technocounselor @robini71 I have paid a little less than $15 for 50 Armin hammer sheets
@amy0223 @technocounselor @baxaphobia I've found the Afresh machine cleaning tablets work well and aren't as strongly scented as those from Tide.
@robini71 wow that's impressive. I haven't played around with that app either but it's tempting. Curious if you find other products use it.
@robini71 I'd never even heard of NaviLens until seeing this post. I just grabbed the app. I wonder how you can find out what products it can identify? Do you just wave it around the kitchen or cupboard or something?
@kernsac I imagine there might be a list somewhere.
@kernsac Perhaps within the app itself.
@robini71 I thought there might be something in the app, but I didn’t see anything when I looked at it. I just might have to fire it up and walk around the house pointing it at stuff. :-)
@kernsac Perhaps there'll be more on their official site: https://www.navilens.com/en/ I'm also happy to report that #NaviLens has an #Android app for those who use that platform.

@boogiechild @robini71 LOL, and I just took that app off my phone I think. Might have to put it back.
