We had my sister-in-law's boyfriend to our house yesterday, who is from #Iran, and my kids were making coloured eggs. He pointed out that they do that in Iran, too, for #Nowruz, and now I *must* find out if these practices are related!

Nowruz is an *ancient* holiday, and #Easter is an old #pagan word for a very #Christian holiday, but "Easter" for many people is eggs and bunnies (ie, #RitesOfSpring), so this stuff could ALL be related.

NB: turns out *everyone* paints or otherwise decorates eggs. Because birds produce them in spring, they're part of spring festivals, and humans being human, we're like, "That's a flat (enough) surface. I could make art on it. Hold my beer..."
