Highlighting the dangers and inhumanity of strategic heavy-#bombing in urban areas, on #ThisDayInHistory in 1943 the USAAF missed the Erla factory by a kilometre and instead bombed the Nazi-occupied town of #Mortsel in #Belgium, killing over 900 civilians, including 209 children.
