“Palestine is giving us the opportunity to emancipate ourselves,” said Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories, in an interview with Middle East Eye in Berlin following a screening of the film Disunited Nations in which she features. She said that people protesting for the rights of Palestinians are also “defending their own rights,” arguing that there is a direct link between the two. Albanese said that people should “not be afraid” to fight for universal human rights, adding that “we cannot sit passively” and let rights violations occur.
