@blogdiva

This is why I keep encouraging people to tell their own version of recent news events. This is high quality propaganda* they have people who are following US media, tropes etc.

*this doesn't mean it's true or false just ideological

@futurebird @blogdiva I started jounraling about current events. Originally it was "FDT Journal", but now it's gone back to just my general journal (split in to entries I'm ok sharing public, and entries I'm keeping secret till my death). The public portion of that journal is readable via gopher.

If you're inclined to read it, lmk. Using gopher is ridicilously easy. I'll even find a gopher browser for you if you mention what OS you use.

@futurebird @blogdiva It's actually a pretty neat set up. My notes app just makes markdown files (essentially plain text). So I write the journal there. The same sync that keeps my personal files synced between my computers syncs it to a machine that then uploads them to my gopher host. No conversion needed, gopher works on text files.
@futurebird @blogdiva I've been working on a deadman automation to detect I've ceased to be alive, and trigger an automation to dump the private entries to the public folder, which would then push them up to the gopher host.
@futurebird @blogdiva Currently, the deadman automation merely messages me to tell me it thinks I'm dead. I was getting a lot of false positives. I found the timer reset was deciding to reset to however long it had been since last reboot, and then sticking with that number in subseqent timer restarts. I haven't had a chance to look lately, but I haven't heard it claim I'm dead lately, so perhaps my bug fix was good.
@futurebird @blogdiva Basically, every time I do the things I do daily, such as use my coffee timer, play on PlayStation, things like that, it restarts the timer. If I'm not alive to do those thigns, it assumes I'm dead, and - when deployed for real, it'd send me a message and start another timer. If I don't go in and tell it I'm still alive before that second timer ends, it kicks off a set of scripts to send out messages, and copy that journal.
