Night Music was such a great show. Cool bands, doing hits and deep cuts, and ending with a group jam that often included rare combos like this one with Debbie Harry backing Pere Ubu doing their biggest hit. 🤩

@Defiance I remember seeing Bongwater play on this show. Was always on either after Saturday Night Live or after the late Sunday NBC newscast. It’s fuzzy yo me. Really enjoyed it. Couldn’t believe I was seeing Bongwater on OTA television. Was the first time I saw what they looked like!

@icastico @Unabart Such a great example of this show. So eclectic and raw. Great sound too.

I remember seeing this episode, and the ep with the Pixies, and the one with Sonic Youth doing Sliver Rocket.

It was hard to catch because I couldn't always record it on our VCR and would rarely be up that late, even though I was in college at the time lol.

@Defiance @Unabart

That’s the episode with Diamanda Galas, The Indigo Girls, and Aretha Franklin.

@icastico @Unabart LOL, just insanely eclectic. What really stood out to me at the time. What a cool concept. I actually started enjoying sax thanks for David S too!
@icastico @Defiance And thus begins my annual week of listening to the Bongwater box set on repeat. Thanks!
@Unabart @icastico I gotta get that thing. I only have Power...and a few comps that feature them.
@Defiance @icastico it’s great because it’s not broken down as disc by disc, it’s just all the stuff in chronological order so it flows great if you rip it all to mp3 and ut it all in the same folder.

@Unabart @Defiance

I only have Double Bummer - but, really, isn’t that all ya need. ;^)

@icastico @Defiance I love them all! Sometimes I listen when I’m laying in bed and it’s like Ann Magnuson telling me weird bedtime stories.
@Unabart @icastico I was just reading the track list on Discogs. It's got everything. Amazing!

@Defiance @Unabart @icastico Love Kramer and Magnuson. I was hooked on Bongwater after I got their first EP, which features a wild cover of the Moodies’ Ride my Seasaw and a trippy version of Lennon’s ballad Julia. Worth every eighties penny I spent on the vinyl!

@_slotek_ @Unabart @icastico They definitely do great covers. Like the Roky Erickson cover in that video that @icastico shared!
@Defiance @Unabart @icastico Ah, didn’t know that one was a cover! I mostly listen to Easter Everywhere by the Elevators. Super psychedelic…
@Unabart I definitely remember the first time I saw Ann Magnuson 🤤
