Relocating the kitchen garden after getting rid of the concrete around it.

You can nicely see the difference between the good soil and the clay rich stuff below in the spot where I scraped too deeply.

The big grading bucket moves dirt fast but unfortunately it just started raining, to my great annoyance. Sprinted out to rescue some stuff and now having coffee while hoping it doesn't get too muddy to continue. 😫

Like most excavator work, it requires a bit of strategy. Here I'm piling the good soil in the middle, then I'll have to move the bad soil over it to fill the gap left behind and then distribute the good soil in the new hole.

More rain showers, so job not finished, it was getting too wet. Annoying, but oh well.

Can't really complain about the weather too much, we had an awesome sunny month and the mud season was short. The newly woodchipped parking area helped not get the cars get stuck like the previous year.

Got as far as moving the old soil out of the way and scooping most of the good soil over to where it should be.

The yard monitors were watching from above but wouldn't commit when I asked if it looks straight enough. 🤷

Excavator skills have leveled up! My level arm swing is much better and I've gotten into the habit of scraping together a heaped bucket before swinging it over to the pile. Makes a big difference with the wide bucket.

We'll see how good my grading is when it gets to leveling it all. Grading is IMHO the most difficult thing in an excavator.
