@tomkindlon does "doctors exaggerating the severity of something to get the patient to change their behavior" count as medical gaslighting, or is that just good old fashioned medical lying?

I can't recall the exact charge, but I've known doctors to take something relatively minor and make a huge deal out of it. "You're only drinking 6 glasses of water a day?! It's a miracle you can even [function normally in some way]. You really need to be drinking 8." People have told me these specific experiences of theirs ruined their trust in doctors.

@tomkindlon you're not alone, at least on some of that. As for self-confidence, I'm good.
But yes family leave much to be desired. They figure they have it all figured out, especially those who don't really have any health issues.
