On #HolySaturday, as many a Christian will tell it, the just-dead Christ Jesus went to hell, emptied it of its Old Testament saints, and took them with him to heaven.
The story comes from Christian mythology, not bible. In the actual bible, Jesus tells the Dives and Lazarus story, and describes Lazarus at Abraham’s side, at rest—not in limbo; not in hell. In paradise. Which is where the justified dead go, and have always gone.
But the “harrowing of hell” story is way more exciting. Mel Gibson even wants to make a movie of it.
