"For the second year in a row, US President Donald Trump has proposed significant cuts to the budgets of major US science agencies…[The plan] includes a ban on using federal funds for subscriptions and publishing fees for some academic journals…Some of the steepest cuts would be made to the National Science Foundation (#NSF) and the Environmental Protection Agency (#EPA): the budgets of both would fall more than 50% in 2027 compared to their current levels…The budget for the US National Institutes of Health [#NIH] would drop 13%…The budget would increase funding for…the military, which would receive US $1.5 trillion, a 44% increase."

Budget proposal would also curb federal payments for scientific publishing.

@petersuber
I usually emphasize that most recent assinine policies are result of the GOP, not just Trump. But this horrible Iranian war is the fault completely of Donald Trump, who voided a perfectly acceptable anti-nuclear weapon treaty with Iran in his first term for no good reason other than it was negotiated by a Democrat. Then he decide to, for no good reason, attack and now continue to rain destruction on the country. Donald Trump is the ideal example of international policy failure.
@petersuber
If this is for 2027, won’t it be considered by Congress after the 2026 election? Hopefully, wiser and bluer heads will prevail.
@petersuber They hate #science because any understanding of reality threatens their agenda.

@petersuber Why do we need science when we have AI? xd

American scientists are already remembering that their grandfather was German, French, or Polish and are applying for citizenship in those countries. If Trump continues, if Trump continues, the rest will start remembering that their grandfather came from Europe in the 18th century.
