you know… i never pay attention to these things while watching #baseball, but today is #ViernesSanto and am seeing a sea of the melanin challenged in aerial views of the #baseball game am watching.

given how hegemons love to talk shit about how USA is a Christian Nation™, it’s really something to see so many of them at the ball park on the day their messiah got executed.

i don't know… maybe most of them are muslim, jewish or atheist but this being USA and the price of those tickets… nah.

@blogdiva U.S. mainstream Christianity seems to have decided that the most important Christian holiday isn't Easter but Christmas (now about three months long), presumably because it fits in better with their generally infantile notion of the Incarnation: Jesus was born and now everything is glowy and wonderful forever, with the Crucifixion reduced to a mere blip along the road to eternal bliss.
@mxchara
Don't forget all the glorious spending. Merry Capitalistmas!
@blogdiva
@saucerlost @blogdiva oh gawd do you remember that awful Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas movie that's basically just...a strawman liberal who's dispirited by Christmas turning into a corporate spectacle, and Cameron telling him he's an idiot and that he should think of mountains of Christmas presents as if they were the City of God or something like that
@mxchara
I do! I also remember him providing the saddest birthday photo ever to the Internet.
@blogdiva
@blogdiva I'm an atheist, but I celebrate the Christian version of Ēostre: I pretend to be dead and don't answer work messages until Monday.
@flipper @blogdiva then show up at a gathering of your friends and ask for dinner?
@blogdiva @lisamelton Pretty sure most of those folks are “CINO” (to riff on Trump’s pejorative RINO) that only pay attention to one Christian feast a year, and it’s not Easter.
