Originally an arcade game, the side scrolling beat 'em Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time was ported to the SNES in 1992. ๐Ÿข

The SNES version of Turtles in Time is not a direct port of the arcade original. While missing some animations and graphics effects from the arcade version, it made extensive use of the SNES' Mode 7 forward scrolling effect. It also featured the option to give unique...

The SNES version is missing certain voice samples for both the Turtles and boss characters. Difficulty has drastically been toned down, enemies lacking many attacks seen in the arcade version. ๐Ÿ‘Š

The SNES version also features a time-trial mode and a two-player versus fight mode. โฑ๏ธ

@repeatro

Bury my Shell at wounded knee!

Loved this game, we played it on my cousins SNES.

@DePaelzerBu

Nice ๐Ÿ‘Œ
Did you have two controllers to play in coop?

@repeatro As a die hard Sega kid it was difficult for me to admit that this game had the edge compared to the Mega Drive's Hyperstone Heist.

It's interesting how Konami made arcade ports for the SNES and then made remixed games using the same assets for Sega's system.

They did it for both Ninja Turtles and Sunset Riders.

@Judeau

Hyperstone Heist wasn't good? Or wasn't it just as good as Turtles in Time but still a decent game?

@repeatro It was absolutely a great game! It's just not as good as the arcade version and not as flashy as the SNES version.
@repeatro I remember as a little kid maybe 3yrs old, my dad used to take me to one of the last 80s style arcades (still running today but more modern games now  ) and the arcade version of TMNT was my go-to. I ran straight for it each time & burned dozens of quarters. I still have my SNES cartridge but I always felt it was missing something. Now I wanna play the arcade version again.

@Zander

Nice memory ๐Ÿ‘
Unfortunately, here in Germany arcades were considered gambling machines and therefore forbidden for kids. The console versions of many of the arcade classics were the first time to experience them for us.

@repeatro wow. The things we take for granted sometimes. I assumed everyone went to arcades growing up. Well that sucks lol.
