Sky puppies!

Rosalind park in the middle of #bendigo has a truly staggering number of Flying Fox bats

@joannaholman I walked there last week and fully have the park was occupied. By far the most I’ve ever seen.
@dcbuchan I don’t remember there being nearly as many there when I grew up in Bendigo. It’s surprising that many can find food
@joannaholman they roam far and wide. Silently.
@joannaholman they’re so fancy looking with their regal brownish collar tuft. What absolute stunners!
@elebertus they really are beautiful creatures. Very majestic when they fly too
@joannaholman hamsters with hang gliders
@joannaholman Sky puppies > wall puppies
@joannaholman lotsa fruit trees about. I still remember the colonies in Tonga. Staggering is definitely the term for a large colony, in a visual, audible, and olfactory, sense 😆
@joannaholman If you're ever up this way, there's a massive colony at the northern end of Parramatta Park, near CommBank Stadium: https://pixelfed.social/p/ajsadauskas/876752214572652401

At the northern end of Parramatta Park, near the cricket oval, there's a large fruit bat colony. Any by large, I mean hundreds of them. #bat #bats #animal #animals #wildlife #wildlifephotography #nature #Parramatta #Australia
