I relocated some ramps last spring to my garden and am pleased to see them coming up this year!
Now to spread them amongst all the local parks….

@RavynWitch Oooooh, awesome! What’s the procedure for multiplying these? Let them set seed, keep them where they are, go bananas for a while?
@Momomoto both!! So, their bulbs split to form clumps, but they also flower and produce seeds that can be cultivated!
They’re getting to be somewhat endangered in some wild areas due to folks harvesting them for eating - so I’m trying to do my part to expand their existence in my area.
@RavynWitch Ah, neato! I grapple with this every spring, because there are a couple of farmer’s market stalls with ramps. I only hope they are doing it sustainably, but I don’t want to come off too aggressively so I never ask :(
@Momomoto I feel like there’s probably a way to be like “wow, ramps! Do you find them hard to grow?” And see what they say.
In general, sustainable harvest is either from private land/cultivation, or just takes a leaf from each plant so as not to kill the host - anyone selling leaves with bulbs attached you should absolutely ask questions of.
And! A good vendor should tell you! I’m not as polite as you, so I 100% walk up to people and go “are you growing these yourselves?”
