I am working on getting some music going for my lil 2D platformer game demo.. I have not put together music in so long. My background has been with using trackers & sequencers.

After a little bit of digging and feeling a little anxious, I was very happy to find Furnace. There's even intro music and an animation when starting it up! Whaaat ...

The online guides are very friendly and there's even a manual included when downloading the software.

The interface itself is nice, there are quite a number of affordances showing what can be done. It's refreshing to be guided and helped to using a piece of software.

If I am not mistaken, this software seems to have a target of making music for consoles or to play on certain hardware systems.. I'm not able to export to common tracker formats like MOD, S3M, IT, etc. I am aiming for general-purpose music-making and I don't want something on the order of LMMS or a studio.. just something smaller like Open Modplug Tracker (which I could fire up).
