I want to test 3 clay bodies, 2 glazes, two bisque temperatures, and 6 underglazes. I set out to make a bowl and a cup for each combination. (Or in engineering terms I designed a DOE to test ceramic materials). I made a dozen little cups and bowls and it took maybe 4-6 hours. And that is too long. Time to switch to bowls and test six colors per bowl. I could go farther and do do a bigger bowl with six colors twice and test two glazes on the same object. This would cut the effort in half. So instead of OMG 120 test coupons I will only need 6. I think.
