The Pen Problem Continues

Soon, I’m going to issue a challenge. The “Don’t Buy Shit” Challenge. I’ll write more about that tomorrow, but for now you need to understand what has prompted that challenge. I’ve bought “some” fountain pens. I’ve talked about this new hobby of mine before and I’ve mentioned it several times on the podcast, but it’s worse than I want to admit. I now have at least two dozen fountain pens. Now, none of these were overly expensive, at least when you learn that some pens can cost thousands of dollars, but they are not 10 cent Bics either.

@backtoanalog @thelinuxcast I hadn't checked my total in a while, and I kinda wish I hadn't now. I broke well into the 300 threshold at some point this year, and I still have a bunch in transit. I don't think I should be in control of my wallet any more... 😬

I haven’t spent a lot on #FountainPens because I’m happy with the experience and performance of my Pilot Metropolitan and Kaweco Sport. I have a few others, but I haven’t found a reason to get a more-expensive pen because these are so good!

Don’t ask me about #SlideRules, though. Every time I think I have all of them I need, I have an “Oh! Shiny!” moment…

Hobbies give us a happy place.

@inaction_figure - If you and I shook hands, it might cause a matter/antimatter reaction. I'm just fine with four slide rules, but my pen collection makes my wife give me side-eye.

@thelinuxcast Almost fountain pens here. Mitsubishi Eye rollers glide just so amazingly nicely! I also have a pocket with all colors I could find (ask me when you see me at an event).
At least the ink color selection is limited, or I'd have more.

I recently ran my main pen, a $80 one, through the wash, somehow with the cap off, and the nib is ruined. 🥺

They’re replaceable on this model, but that’s still $30 down the drain.

@AAMfP I also buy both, lol. But I've been mostly good on the keebs for a while. I did replace my Dactyl, but that's my end game board, so it's fine.
