Listening to @siracusa talk about what #Apple should do after discontinuing the #MacPro got me thinking (maybe hallucinating :-) ) about what they could do technically.

So here is my phantasy rollout scenario [A-G]:

A) Mac Rack
A 19“ rack enclosure - I think 3-5 HUs - that can house multiple #MacMini or #MacStudio computers, with active cooling. They could offer it as well in a ½-width version for #HomeLab purposes. This would provide 3rd-party extensibility via #rackMounted #ThunderBolt devices.
B) Improved #ScreenSharing
Evolve the #macOS screen sharing functionality into a complete #remoteDesktop / #thinClient solution including remote boot and access to BIOS.
C) rackMac
A new Mac, more powerful than the Mac Studio, that ‚can get as hot as it wants, that is only for deployment in a Mac Rack.
D) LightningBolt port
The new rackMac comes with a new Thunderbolt over #fiber port, that allows Thunderbolt with higher bandwidth over longer distances - e.g. from the server room to the office.
E) New Macs with LightningBolt port
Exclusive for desktop Macs - Mac Studio, Mac Mini and iMac. Allows those Macs to provide Remote Desktop access to rackMacs in the same building / campus.
F) Mac Neo
A new desktop Mac similar to the #MacBookNeo, using an A-series chip. It comes in two form factors:
F1) A small box with one Thunderbolt port, that is connected to a display. Peripherals are connected via Bluetooth or the display.
F2) A device resembling the bottom half of a laptop with keyboard and trackpad stacked.
Both could offer the new LightningBolt port as a configuration option.
G) #ePaper displays for #MagicKeyboard and #MagicTouchPad as well as for the Mac Neo with keyboard and touchpad
Add an paper display for every key and the touchpad surface. With this they can offer massive added functionality and have to sell only one SKU of the keyboard. Use a new open HID-standard that allows for more intelligent peripherals, e.g. #MacroPad|s.
Does this qualify as a fever dream?
