The EU as a strong voice at the 61st session of the Human Rights Council

The 61st session of the Human Rights Council (HRC61) took place amid increasing geopolitical tensions and armed conflicts. The universality of human rights faces unprecedented challenges. We are witnessing with deep concern a growing pushback against long-established human rights norms and institutions, alongside narratives that seek to divide people. In this context, and amid a decline in multilateral engagement, the international community must renew its unwavering commitment to defending, respecting, protecting and fulfilling human rights and to making them tangible for everyone, everywhere.
