Hey, #gigWorkers of Mastadon:

Do you feel the need to carry a commercial liability policy?

I'm thinking of signing up for one of them and the terms of "partner agreement" they want me to sign includes that I will be held personally liable for defending the company if there's a suit filed for anything that's my fault. That would include me paying for their attorneys' time, which they have the right to choose. As far as I can tell, my homeowners' insurance won't cover this, even with an umbrella clause.

@kingtor Back when I had commercial liability insurance (I think I needed it to exhibit at a trade show or something like that), I don't remember that kind of indemnification language. But then again, I'm not sure I would remember such a detail, even if I was paying attention at the time.
