Tried to figure out yesterday how to split a 2x4 in half lengthwise without a table saw.

Turns out that my circular saw rip sled goes down to very small dimensions!

Worked perfectly. 🪚

@syntaxseed how do you like that kreg rip guide? I have had their track for breaking down sheet goods for a while but for some reason just never tried the rip guide.

@Rajiv I haven't had another one to compare it to, but it's pretty easy to use, lightweight & it even fit my super old circular saw (It was my grandfather's I think). So that's great.

A lot of it is plastic so I don't know how long it will last but it was inexpensive & I'll be gentle with it so I think it'll be good for a while.

@syntaxseed may be I will pull out mine and give it a shot. I bought the tracks and it uses exact same circuler saw carrier. when that carrier broke ( that answers your question about longevity I suppose 😆 ), cheapest way to get another one was to grab that ripping guide. apart from borrowing that carrier, rest of the ripping guide is still in it's package.
I do use lots of their other jigs though and find them super useful.

@syntaxseed

Could I trouble you to elaborate on your sled? That sounds like something I could use for 4x6cm boards, for example, and especially if I can set the saw at 45°.

@wedge I bought it at Home Depot (Canada). I've used it to cut plywood in half too. Works great!
