"Stop putting your confidence in the false belief that says, 'We are safe! The temple of YHWH is here! The temple of YHWH is here! The temple of YHWH is here!'" (Jeremiah 7:4)

God called #Jeremiah to #prophesy to the Judahites from the days of Josiah until the beginning of the days of the Babylonian #exile

Jeremiah, therefore, was given the unenviable task of proclaiming the word of God to the people at the very precipice of disaster, begging them to repent.

Many Judahites did not listen because they maintained a misbegotten confidence that YHWH would never allow pagans to desecrate His Temple.  Had He not cast out the Assyrians?  Would He not do the same to #Babylon?
What was the burden given to Jeremiah regarding Judah?
