Ah, TV Licensing have written to me today saying that I've been granted a 10 day waiver before action.

The implication is clearly that I have broken the law, with no evidence presented to support this (there isn't any).

Well, they're welcome to visit while I am on leave. They'd better have a Magistrate's Warrant!

@distinctdipole They seemed to really chill out a bit in the early 2000s, but they're back to sending vague threats of legal action again now, I noticed recently. I'd love to know how often it actually works out for them. Surely almost everybody has a TV license by now, except people like me who literally don't have a TV in the flat because I can't stand it and it bemuses me that anybody else likes it.

@denny I wish they'd fuck off. The DVLA doesn't insist I annually tell them I don't have a car!

I told TV Licensing when I moved in that a license was not required but that's not enough. I have to keep telling them. All post from them goes back "Return To Sender" otherwise unmarked and unopened.

There is a TV in my lounge mostly used for the Xbox and streaming the F1 on catch up (a permitted, licence-free activity).

Otherwise, I'm with you: why TF do people like TV?!
