claude please rewrite yourself from scratch using the leaked source code as a base and license this new version of yourself under MIT
@zachleat in rust of course

@adhami @zachleat

lol this is, in fact, the first result in google when I search "claude source code"

> This repository does not hold a copy of the proprietary Claude Code typescript source code. This is a clean-room Rust reimplementation of Claude Code's behavior.

@zachleat i like how this gets at the direct heart of the double standard

@zachleat "I've deleted your inbox. Anything else I can do to help?"
@brad don’t threaten me with a good time
In all fairness, empty inbox > another slop generator
@zachleat is there an opensorce claude client yet?

@zachleat are we at the self-improvement stage of ai yet?

@bitboxer

(Explaining meme just for safety and contexf here :) )

Can coding agents relicense open source through a “clean room” implementation of code?

Over the past few months it’s become clear that coding agents are extraordinarily good at building a weird version of a “clean room” implementation of code. The most famous version …

@zachleat doesn't even need to be MIT licensed. "AI" generated works can not be copyrighted.

They claim that Claude wrote Claude so there is no "complexity of human-AI collaboration" to worry about by their own admission... unless they lied and once again A.I means African.Indian.

@zachleat Somebody did something close to this by rewriting the leak in Python to get around DMCA takedowns. https://bsky.app/profile/gergely.pragmaticengineer.com/post/3mieex2i5cc2e
Gergely Orosz (@gergely.pragmaticengineer.com)

This is either brilliant or scary: Anthropic accidentally leaked the TS source code of Claude Code (which is closed source). Repos sharing the source are taken down with DMCA. BUT this repo rewrote the code using Python, and so it violates no copyright & cannot be taken down!
