Car lanes shouldn't be deadly high-speed car dispensers that are 12ft wide. But even so, you should only have to cross one at a time. The #trafficEngineering profession needs to just get cancelled, abdicated responsibility, and with it: authority. Frauds.

It’s finally getting warmer, which means more time to enjoy the outdoors, including walking. Whether you’re walking to school, work, a grocery store, to a bus stop, or just getting some exercise, staying safe while crossing roads is critical.

@enobacon no evidence the clip of jaywalking is even jaywalking (according to the jaywalking laws I know of, the Victoria Australia ones.).
@LovesTha yeah, a lot of people don't know the rules of unmarked crosswalks, like maybe a lot of traffic Engineers.
@enobacon @LovesTha

"all intersections are crosswalks" but don't you dare guerrilla paint some zebra stripes bc the poor drivers will be confused and dot will have to come scrub the paint off the crosswalk-that-must-not-be-marked
@letsbeworms @LovesTha how do traffic Engineers not get sued into retirement by every crash victim? (Besides that the judge drives to work and the laws were written by monsters...)
@enobacon because the engineers are doing what society asks them to do.
@LovesTha does society know this, at all? That they've allowed a supposedly regulated profession to place car supremacy above safety or even efficiency?

@enobacon They know in so far as they accept and believe they enjoy car centric culture. They react negatively to things that make active transport better (or even a sane option).

I know I joke about the engineers should be held responsible, but they are just doing the job their bosses want them to do.

@LovesTha "the boss said to" would not be a valid excuse for provably-fatal designs in literally any other field of Engineering. This is my point about it not being a real profession. I also don't believe that the majority of voters want it to stay that way, just the politicians and their owners.

@enobacon that is an objectively awful video.

Insecure drivers are distracted driving giant vehicles with hood heights at my shoulder, but if you skip across a (marked!!) crosswalk, you should apparently expect to be hit.

@bolderbekah system working as-designed!
