While we're complaining about tvOS video players can we touch on the YouTube app tanking half the videos to 240p as soon you change playback speed to 1.5x
@christianselig and destroying audio going to airplay speakers while doing it.

@christianselig Or that the YouTube app Google finally spit out for visionOS is an inscrutable mess of UX that doesn’t really lean into any of the stuff that makes spatial computing interesting?

If only there was a better way!

@christianselig if only one had experience with this he could release a great app 😉😉
@drvolks No web views on tvOS exposed unfortunately, could build something private though but you'd never be able to submit it to the App Store until Apple exposes actual web view APIs
@christianselig Amazon Prime did that every 20 minutes while I was watching today, and I didn't even have to change the speed. (Not that I could.)
@christianselig tvOS has been slow and buggy. I’ve already mentally commited to grapheneOS with my next phone. I need to look into alternative media boxes as well.
@alacriiity Really? It’s never felt slow to me at all.

@christianselig How about how the play button doesn’t play the video?

Gets me constantly.

@christianselig I refuse to use the app. Safari only
@christianselig not actually related to tvOS - it’s a longstanding bug with YouTube native apps for anything from AndroidTV, WebOS to XBox and PS5 if the video you’re watching is available in 60fps. If you have a 30fps video it’ll do 1.5x just fine.
@heals Yeah I noticed that too, and I don't even think it's a bug, I remember a post somewhere where Google stated that it's bizarrely intentional? No idea what they're doing over there
@christianselig you're not alone in remembering that article, I just can't find it anymore!

@christianselig audio sync issues if you have HomePods and adjust the playback speed too.

The app is steaming hot garbage.

@christianselig I had that same issue on my xbox, super annoying. I ended up switching to a pc in my living room (not because of that), and even with the jank of using a mouse with controller its so much better. Plus I'm pretty sure you get more ads on the tvOS version too
