The plan:

Me taking extreme precautions to get to my parents safely and infection free, for all our benefit. Me having prepped them beforehand to avoid contact with others for at least 48 hours before I get there.

What I predict will happen:

My parents welcoming me to their home after my 28 hour travel ordeal, with my cousins, aunts and uncles, their families, their friends, the neighbours, all present, all unmasked, some of them visibly sick, all of them having been there for a few hours before hand, all the windows closed in a stuffy room. But they all washed their hands so it’s fine. My parents being confused at how fucking furious I am that they literally did nothing that I begged them to do. The bare fucking minimum to keep their first born safe, after having gone through medical hell for 6 years and not wishing to become even sicker.

@andymoose  these pre-travel emotional spirals are very familiar territory… very relatable shit. thankfully time marches on, and whatever will happen will happen, and eventually it will become the past, no matter how it turns out. But you'll have prepared 1000%, and you'll know you did your best. We're all cheering for you!!
@elana Thank you. I swear that once I get back to Vancouver I will probably collapse to the ground and kiss it, to the amusement of everyone in the vicinity. Then I will isolate in the basement for a few days while my wife feeds me pizza slices under the door.
@andymoose 😂 pizza slices under the door omgggg. your sense of humour is a gift 😄

@andymoose @elana

I think you are preparing as well as you can, and I think that will help to keep you safe. I hope you are wrong about your family, but you know them and I don't, but still, I will be keeping my fingers crossed that they can step up to keep you safe.

@FiddleSix @elana Picture a smaller less intense version of my Big Fat Greek Wedding
@andymoose @FiddleSix @elana Funny you saying that. I remember us watching that soon after we got together and finding it uncomfortably funny
@andymoose @FiddleSix @elana At the time your family didn’t really work that way as it was a small core family in England. Now your parents are in Athens it’s more realistic
@andymoose I would make one change to this- the windows will definitely be open as your mum opens windows the coldest of winter. But the rest is pretty accurate of what I expect to happen
